Tarot FAQ

The ten questions people ask most, before their first reading or after one that left them wondering. Answered briefly, so you can use them right away.

1Why am I told to draw with my left hand?

Because each hand is wired to the opposite side of the brain. The left hand connects to the right hemisphere — images, space, intuition — so drawing with it lets feeling, not reasoning, pick the card. It is an old custom rather than proven science. Left-handed? Use your right; the point is the hand you use less.

2What are upright and reversed cards? Do I have to use them?

Upright is the card as printed; reversed is upside down. The same card reversed either flips its meaning (Lovers → discord, parting) or shows the upright meaning in excess, lack or delay. Many readers skip reversals entirely. On this site you can turn them on or off per spread.

3How far into the future can tarot see?

Usually three to six months, a year at most. If Saju reads the whole surface of a life, tarot reads a single point — the present and the near future, in detail. So rather than asking about ten years from now, ask “should I do this this quarter?”. You can pick the time frame in the question window.

4I drew Death, the Tower or the Devil. Is that bad?

No. Dark pictures usually mean an ending, a change or a release, and in the right position they are good news. Bright cards like the Sun, the Lovers and the World have their own shadows — pride, complacency, the weight of a choice. Do not judge by first impression; read position × card × question. This site marks those cards with a “looks dark, but not a bad card” badge.

5Can I ask the same question again?

Better not. Redrawing until you like the answer gives you comfort, not an answer. One question, one draw — ask again after things change. If you truly must look again, try a different deck: if the same card appears, that is no coincidence.

6How should I phrase a question?

“Will the job change work out?” answers poorly. “I’m at company A and B just made an offer — should I move?” answers well. One line of situation plus one line of what you want to know is enough. Hiding the situation makes the reading stall halfway. The “sharpen the question” helper in the question window builds it for you.

7What is the difference between tarot and Saju?

Saju uses your birth year, month, day and hour to read the flow of a whole life and the big energy of this year or month. Tarot needs no birth date; with cards alone it reads the near future of the concern in front of you, in detail. “How is my year?” is a Saju question; “should I keep seeing this person?” is a tarot question. Many people use both.

8I forget everything as soon as the reading ends.

That is normal. The brain does not store a long explanation whole; it keeps a word or two. So you remember “they’ll come back” and forget “if these conditions hold”. Copy the three “keep this” lines under the result or save to the journal, and check how it went once the time frame has passed.

9Does a tarot certificate mean a better reader?

Tarot certificates are issued privately, not by any national body, so one does not guarantee skill. Skill shows in asking back to confirm your question, not leaning on the picture alone, and not asserting what you did not ask. Judge the specificity of the explanation, not the paper.

10Is tarot on this site free? Where is my data stored?

Everything is free and there is no sign-up. Your question, topic, time frame and journal are stored only in your browser (cookies and localStorage), never on our server. A share link carries just the card numbers and the question. Clearing browser data removes the journal, so export it as a file before switching devices.

Что выбрать?

The same worry gets a different kind of answer depending on the tool. Both are for fun, but matching the tool to the question makes the answer far more useful.
